Getting a good web hosting company is essential in the IT industry. For one, no website operates if it isn’t registered with a web host. Another thing, when your web host is down, so is your website. While your web host gets pestering calls from thousands of their clients, you are losing money! And besides, web hosts do not have the right to have a technical problem. There should always be a backup, every single time, absolutely no excuses.

Now that’s out of the way, let’s talk about features. If you own an online shop, you will definitely get a lot of spam, phishing emails and what not. You can always install an antivirus so your incoming mails are scanned. I have one on this computer but I still get more junk mail than legitimate ones.

Wouldn’t it be nice if your web host offers an email filter such as MailboxCop Spam and Virus filter? This way, you don’t have to manually delete your junk mails each time. Of course there are cases when an important email is tagged as spam so your email filter should allow you to recover it and it is important that it learns from its mistakes so you only need to recover emails from the same address once.

There are other features you need to look for in a web host but I decided to focus on emails this time because I am trying to delete the same emails from my junk mail (again!) and I’m wishing I had MailboxCop working with me so I don’t have to do this everyday.
