Merchant Account or Payment Processing Gateway? Find the Answer Here!

Did you know that there are several ways you can accept payment online? The most common method is by setting up a merchant account.

Merchant accounts enable you to accept credit or debit card payments directly online. If you are already engaged in face to face transactions and would like to expand to selling on the internet, you cannot use your already existing merchant account – you have to apply for a new one which is specific for processing online transactions. If you are running a business which has a high number of online transactions which are relatively low risk, running a business which requires the greatest amount of flexibility and if cash flow is very important for your business, then it is best that you apply for a merchant account. When you use a merchant account to accept payment, fund will usually be available to you after two to three business days.

Apollo Hosting partnered with Ecommerce Exchange System and PayQuake to provide online shop owners a way of accepting payment online. If your online store is not expecting a large number of online transactions, then this is your best option. If you have been trading for a long time but cannot provide a well documented history, or if you value the ability to attract customers more than collecting income from sales, then you should consider the facilities offered by a payment processing company. This is a relatively low cost option but funds are available to you at a later date.
