Why is web design important?

04/14/08 | by Webmaster [mail] | Categories: Design

Ever heard of the cliché, “First impressions last”? Well, if you are engaged in an IT-based business, this is so true. With thousands, if not millions, of companies bringing their business online, you are extremely lucky if internet users click on your link when they search in Google; so you better make sure that they’d like what they’d first see, which is usually, your web design.

Imagine going to site that is all cluttered when all you wanted was the information about that site. Or going to site which opens for more that 5 seconds. Or perhaps a site that has numerous pop ups. I know I’d click out of it and choose the new one. That’s one client you lost. I’m pretty sure there are other users who will do the same thing.

While web design is important, it is also extremely tedious to manage web content so you will need all the help you can get. This is why you need to get fully customizable templates like Site Symphony. For companies who want to document your customer’s experiences, you can publish a blog. In the same way, you can get blog software such as B2Evolution Skins to help create that professional look without the need for advanced programming.

Two important things to consider when you use blogs for advertising

04/13/08 | by Webmaster [mail] | Categories: Design

Blogs are considered the most powerful tool of advertising in the present world. This is due to the fact that more people are now abandoning their TVs and radios to discover the new internet world. In the US alone, there are more than 10 million internet users. Imagine how many people use the internet in the world. That’s about the same amount companies save when they advertise through the internet.

In order for a blog to have a wider following, it needs to be popular, and that is the use for social marketing. In a smaller scale, you can do this by joining groups like MySpace and asking your friends to read your newest journal entry. But if you own a company, MySpace just isn’t enough so you need to widen your network through syndication and linking.

It is very difficult to make people subscribe to your posts so the first thing you need to do is make sure that your blog looks good. You can ask web hosts like Apollo Hosting for free blog software that will allow you to design your site with just a few clicks! Most importantly, you need to write good articles, make it practical, short and if you can, humorous! This way your readers will not feel as if they’re reading a technical paper.

Why do I see more blogs everyday?

04/10/08 | by Webmaster [mail] | Categories: Design

I remember a time when acquiring a desktop would cost a fortune, when you had to murder somebody just to get a computer. That was about 7 years ago when MS-DOS was still the greatest invention of all time. Now as I write this blog and I listen to one of my favorite songs on my mp3 player, I contemplate on how much the world has changed.

Whenever I go to the internet, I see people’s blogs and I keep wondering why I am seeing more each day. It seems more and more people are starting to like writing. I got the answer to my question a month ago when I read about internet marketing and search engine optimization. Who could’ve imagined that in 7 years time, advertising would find a new medium? SEO is still a new technology even for programmers so a lot of help is needed by those who wish to engage in this business. Good thing some sites already offer professional marketing services and personal tools that help in SEO work. Site marketing is really important in today’s world as more companies are going online. Never have I imagined that the spread of the internet could bring about this kind of technology.

Lessons of the past should remain in the past

04/09/08 | by Webmaster [mail] | Categories: Design

The first time I used a computer was in 1998 when MS-DOS was seen as the greatest invention developed by mankind. I remember how proud my computer teacher was because we were the only school which had computers and internet access back then.

Anyway, I remember one of our lessons required us to make an email for our teacher. It was supposed to be a test for our typing abilities and also an exam regarding computer software. So I, wanting to finish and go home early, volunteered to go first. I double-click Netscape and it asks for a login. So I put in the necessary information and I try to connect. After 30 minutes, the page pops up. Unfortunately, it was also time for our next class. Lesson for that day: do not have a test using dial up internet.

Imagine if this were to happen today. Most internet users close their browsers if a site doesn’t appear in eight seconds. Impatience is actually a glaring characteristic in today’s world, so if your site is still taking that long to appear, you might want to consider another web host like Apollo Hosting. Not only do they offer hosting at low prices, you also get great services for free!

Why make a blog that no one can see?

04/07/08 | by Webmaster [mail] | Categories: Design

Ask me to manually write a 500-word article, and I can give it to you tomorrow, with numerous grammatical errors and what not. But with my computer, I can finish several pages in just a few hours. My computer is my best friend and the internet is my greatest tool. For bloggers like me, it is impossible to work without the internet.

If you’re an old-timer, you probably have your dictionary turned to the letter B and you’re looking for the word “blogger” which came from the root word “blog”. Unless you’re looking at a dictionary published in 2007, then you probably won’t find it there so let me explain it you.

Blogging or to “blog” is like making a book, only this time, the writer’s thoughts are published over the internet. It’s kind of like a journal where people can write about almost anything! Anyway, people nowadays no longer read printed books since everything is already on the internet. This is why blogging is popular. Now there are thousand of blogs out there on the web and the only way for people to notice yours is to make it visually appealing. Now if you’re saying you don’t care if people read your blogs or not, well, here’s news for you, I don’t think you believe that. Why’d you post it in internet if you didn’t want anyone else to see? You could’ve just written it on your journal with a lock and throw away the key. But you didn’t do that, so I guess you should make the most of it and show your readers that you want them to enjoy your blog.

There are people like me who do not have the technical expertise or the creativity to make a great web design. Thank goodness some people are really talented with these areas and generous too! So now, I just download several B2Evolution skins and viola! I get a website which looks like it’s been designed by a prol.
