5 Baby Steps to Get Your Ecommerce Site Up and Running

03/17/08 | by Webmaster [mail] | Categories: Ecommerce

Getting into ecommerce is used to boost business in today’s competitive world. With our ecommerce hosting tools, it’s easy to promote products and services.

Here are 5 steps to get an ecommerce site running:

1. Build your website
Its time to create your website, either you hire a professional web designer or use our tools. We offer a simple website design tool that enables you to setup your site in minutes. Or, hire a professional website designer.

2. ECommerce store
When you have products or services to offer, make sure to build a ecommerce store so people accessing the site can avail the shopping services. You need to have a shopping cart, like Miva Merchant or OsCommerce which we provide, along with a step by step to run them through the purchase.

3. Payment gateway
It is necessary to have a secure payment gateway or maybe a merchant account. We offer a free account with which you can help process the payments on purchases.

4. Online payment process
Creating a secure layer to process the payment is very essential. Since credit cards are used, the information provided will have to be secured and confidential. If you are on a 'shared' account, you can just ask our tech support for the url. Or, if you want your own secure address, simply purchase a secure certificate and our tech support can install it for you.

5. Increase targeted traffic
Once the site has been created, you need to adopt a marketing strategy to boost traffic onto the portal. The best way to start marketing your site is to submit it to the search engines. It is best to do this manually so go to google.com, yahoo.com, etc. and submit your site. It takes about 2-3 weeks for your site to be picked up.

Your ecommerce site is now ready for action!

These are great general steps for an ecommerce site. Now the level and depth of each step is another service/website on its own! None-the-less great tips for someone looking to begin entering the world as an ecommerce vendor.
